Etnobotánica
Yerba del sapo, Yayilla, Yuyilla, Yuyillo (La planta contiene maticina y taninos. Tradicionalmente se ha usado por sus propiedades diuréticas e hipotensoras. En Las Guayanas le atribuyen propiedades colagogas, diuréticas, refrescantes y vulnerarias. La infusión de la planta completa la usan como remedio contra el asma, bronquitis e hipertensión. Los tallos y hojas mezclados con leche lo administran como remedio para tratar problemas bucales, como gingivitis y odontalgia. Las hojas las comen crudas contra la albuminaturia y como depurativo)
